Abstract
Christian Kietzmann is currently substitute professor for the Chair of Practical Philosophy at the University of Leipzig. He studied philosophy, logic and linguistics in Leipzig, Berlin and Potsdam. In 2008-2012 he was a PhD student at the University of Basel, where he wrote his dissertation on the philosophy of action. He was Visiting Scholar at the Universities of Pittsburgh (2010), Oxford (2017) and Chicago (2019). In 2012-2014 he was a PostDoc at the SMWK-funded research project on „The Anthropological Difference“ at the University of Leipzig. In 2015-2017 he was a substitute assistant professor at Philipps-Universität Marburg/Lahn. In 2018-2021 he held a „Eigene Stelle“, funded by DFG, at the University of Erlangen and continued to work there 2021-2023 as a PostDoc in the DFG-funded project „Capacities and the Good“.

His research topics include the philosophy of action, the theory of normativity, the philosophy of mind (in particular the concepts of inference and belief) and philosophical anthropology. He also publishes on Aristotle and G.E.M. Anscombe. Some further topics that he is interested in are social ontology, Plato, Hellenistic philosophy, Kant, Hegel, Wittgenstein and Oxford philosophy oft he post-war period.
His publications include a book, Handeln aus Gründen als praktisches Schliessen (Freiburg/Br.: Alber 2019), and numerous papers that were published in, e.g., Philosophy and Phenomenological Review, Australasian Journal of Philosophy, European Journal of Philosophy, Archiv für Geschichte der Philosophie, Zeitschrift für philosophische Forschung.
